Makeup Chronicles

Lately I’ve been obsessed with makeup! How to buy it, what to buy, different ways to wear it; the whole nine yards! Lol I’ve been watching YouTube videos as an example so I can get better. I’m 31 years old and I’ve never wore foundation. At most, I’ve wore mascara, eye shadow and eyeliner..I’ve only recently, decided to wear concealer and foundation. I’m so in love with the different looks I can have. I just received my BH Cosmetic 17 piece makeup brush set (on sale for $17.95) and this is what was included:

I’m glad the set includes what the brushes are meant to be used for because I don’t have the slightest clue. This set has everything I need with the exception of a foundation brush. Thank goodness I already have a Real Techniques concealer brush by Samantha Chapman that I bought from Kohl’s and it was $8.

 I only recently learned that there is a special type of brush to use for liquid foundation and a certain type of brush to use for powder foundation. Along with the brushes, I bought myself the basics:

1.       facial cleaner ($4) and scrub ($4) (I’m using Neutrogena for both)

2.       moisturizing lotion ($6) (L’Oreal )

3.        foundation ($25) (Clinique)

4.       concealer  ($8) (True Match, L’Oreal)

5.       eye shadow ($4) (Cover girl)

6.        mascara($8) (L’Oreal)

7.        eye liner and lip liner ($1) (Wet & Wild and dollar store brand)

8.        lipstick ($1) (Dollar store brands, L’Oreal, NYX, Wet & Wild)

9.       Powder($3)  (Elf)
10.  Blush (optional, I'm not into blush yet)

 I bought several different name brands of different things listed because I’m not an expert and I can’t afford the higher end name brands so I wanted to try different drug store name brands, and see what I like the most. I do have Clinique foundation, but chile that’s just because they were giving away a free gift with a $25 purchase. I couldn’t turn that deal down! Turn down for what? Lol I buy makeup wherever I find something I like. I bought some lipstick from dollar tree before and it’s actually one of my favorite colors. I also bought lashes. I love lashes..I mean I love them a lot! They make me feel flirty and sexy! I usually put in single lashes because I don’t know how to do strips and singles last longer. Along my journey, I will be trying to put on strips lashes and hopefully giving tips on what I’m learning on the way. I just wanted to put a basic list together of the minimal things that are needed for a basic makeup look.
